TIWI BEACH CLEAN-UP EXERCISE BY GLOBAL YOUTH FORUM MOMBASA COUNTY.
On 13th March a group of 23 Global Youth Forum - Mombasa County Environmental Department Members traveled to Kwale County (Twiga Beach) for an Environmental duty. The Team was joined by 15 local community members who helped clean the beach.
The Community Members reported that it was a such a great activity and one of it's kind as none had happened before. The Community encouraged the Team to keep up the good work and even extend to other activities such us Agribusiness which will help generate some income to the Youth who currently rely on Tourism Sector that has highly drop leading to idleness and frustrations among the Youth.
The Local Community expressed their interest to establish Global Youth Forum Kwale County so as to be able to plan and carry out projects that will enable them find solutions to their local problems and engage the Youth on productive activities that will help them generate income for a sustainable lifestyle. Global Youth Forum were encouraged to conduct a repeat and invite Local Schools that are always willing to participate in such Community events.
Dr. Steve Foster (centre), Global Youth Forum Mombasa Patron, talk to the Youth on various issues regarding Environment and gave various skills and lessons he learnt on his journey to being a grown up. He encouraged the Youth to be themselves and not to be like other people as God created everyone individual differently and everyone has unique Talent. He echoed the importance of mentors to the young people as he said Mentors are good tools to the Youth.
It's all clear in everyone's mind and no one can afford to forget this "Wakaringorera wefue- wakaringorera." and "Concentration is the game keep the rhythm if you can......" by Frida (right). Those were great activities and all participants appreciated and wished for more but time never allowed.
To sum it up Omondi Peter - Global Youth Forum (Founder and Chief Executive Officer) and a Young African Leader Initiative East Africa participant shared the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People which he promised to share in details in the next gathering.
Global Youth Forum next big project was also mentioned. The project is to take place in all 47 Counties in Kenya and aims at involving the local people at the grassroots level to promote peace through sporting activities and Civic Education Promotion. This is being organized by Sports and Entertainment Department and the money raised will be directed towards building a Talent Development Centre to support natural Talents that exists among the Youth.
Big up Team and lets all take care of Gods gift (Environment) to the human race.
